I was super excited to try this product. As a curly hair girlie, I love me a good wash&go.; Trying to find the best products has really been a struggle for me. I usually style my hair using the LCO method (Liquid/Leave-in, Cream/Gel, Oil) but with this oil gel I’m able to cut back on the products. First annd foremost, This oil gel smelled amazing. A sweet vanilla scent. But even better than that? it glides through hair like butter. I also like the fact that it’s an oil and gel all in one because it eliminates the crunchy cast from regular gels. It probably works best with other surface hair products but it also worked great alone. I would absolutely recommend this product to my curly friends/family. This is going to be a summer staple for me.

I’d like to just start off by mentioning how amazing this smells ! It has a warm chocolatey scent I am in love with. I’m definitely a gourmand girl. I wasn’t really sure what to expect from an oil gel. I am familiar with Vaseline’s Cocoa Butter Oil Gel. But that is for the body and I have never seen something like that for the hair. I wasn’t sure if it was going to be more like an oil or gel but the packaging promised shine and hold ! I used this product after using the cleansing cream on my human hair extensions. This stuff resurrected my curls. The curls that were dry, tangled, and stiff now had life again. My hair looked even better than the day I put them in . The oil gel has a very light hold which is perfect for my current hair style. It provided enough hold without weighing my curls down. But my human hair extensions have a very loose curl. I do not believe this would’ve had enough hold for my natural 4c hair. But it maybe nice for a fluffy twist/ braid out. I received this product free in exchange for my honest review

I am an absolute fanatic for curl products and figuring out what works with my curls. I consistently use gel everyday. After I put in a product to retain moisture, I use a gel to hold my hair in place and keep frizz at bay. I was interested in and curious about trying the Surface Curls Oil Gel, because I had never heard of an oil gel. I thought that it has to be a good thing to have both of those things in one. Upon first trying it, the product smells so yummy and has a nice smooth texture to it. I put it in soaking wet hair both with and without a leave in/curl cream and diffusing or air drying. Using it without extra product and diffusing works best. It yields beautiful frizz-free curls that last all day. When I added extra product or air dried my hair, it was too heavy. It definitely works best for me for wash-day styling and not a refresh, as well. Overall, I like it and will keep it in rotation.

This product really stood out to me! I absolutely love simplifying my hair routines without having to use 50 different products. With this one product it’s a nice holding gel with hydrating oil properties to help break the cast you typically get with gels. This oil gel helped my curls last for days without flaking up on my scalp! I will say i did feel like it was a little sticky when applying to my hair and took a little bit of time to dry. But that doesn’t bother me when it’s a Sunday hair refresh day. I was able to get my curls pretty defined with this singular product. Curls Oil Gel from Surface unfortunately didn’t meet my expectations, and I can’t say I was impressed with this product. I tried it several times, hoping for good results for my curls, but in the end, I was disappointed. First of all, the texture of this gel is a bit unusual. It’s quite oily, and while I understand that this is part of its ingredients, I felt that it didn’t really hold my curls in place very well. My hair looked heavy and a bit greasy after applying it, even when I used a small amount. The product doesn’t seem to absorb very quickly, and I noticed that my hair remained a little sticky and lacked volume compared to usual. I am a thirty four year old beauty enthusiast from Birmingham, Alabama who is often mistaken for having naturally curly hair! My hair is actually very straight, but once I curl it my curls can last a few days. They usually look even better on the second and third days after I curl my hair. This was my first time using an organic oil gel for my curls. It’s to be used on wet hair then can be set to be diffused or air dried. It claims to add shine, define curls, and also prevent frizz. Frizz is the biggest problem I had that can really ruin curls so a much needed product in my hair care routine! I also loved the scent of cocoa butter from this product. It did a great job of defining my curls and also preventing frizz even when I used it on my dry hair.

My roots being curly and using this oil gel I’m able to lay down my curly roots with a straighter . Being Biracial and finding a product is sometimes hard in the beauty world . But I’m shocked at this product from start to finish , I’ll start by saying after I wash my hair with the Curls Co wash from this company I use the Curl Oil Gel to apply to my wet hair and let it sit . It curls up and stays put but also not crunchy or heavy or hard . But if I wanna go straight I can still use this product and go straight into blow drying and flat ironing my hair . I find it gives me moisture and bounce but also shine . Gave my hair a big boost to not be dry , but also leaving my hair smelling like a vanilla brown sugar ice cream afterwards . Texture- feels like a hair oil balm Smell- vanilla, brown sugar ice, shea butter Packing- give enough to last a long time as you only need to use a little in each section

I have very thick, dry, 4C hair that tends to want to tangle. Keeping my hair moisturized and defined is a full time job. I’ve gone through a lot of different gels and had issues with flaking, white residue, crunchiness, dryness, you name it. I really like this Oil Gel because it made my curls pop! I didn’t have any issues with residue or stickiness. My coils are very defined and they aren’t crunchy. For my hair routine, I shampoo and condition, the. I use my leave-in conditioner and a gel. 95% of the time I let the product sit for a few minutes and then blow dry with no diffuser. I thought my hair looked so cute with the definition this oil gel gave me. There’s a medium amount of shrinkage and I was pretty happy about that as well. It has a very rich, gourmand type smell, and even though it’s not really for the scalp, the health of my scalp is a little better. I would recommend this to people with very thick, coily hair who want great definition and moisture.

I tried this and added it to my hair routine, my hair routine consists of shampoo conditioner and I put this oil on after my shower , this was great and had a sweet buttery shea butter scent to it which heightened my experience with this, I enjoyed how I didn’t have to use too much of it as I have thick long hair , I just added a dime size amount and brushed my hair with a comb to evenly distribute it all, and it added a shine to my hair while also giving that sweet scent to it. I like how thick it was and simple to use, my hair tends to be frizzy and dry and this made sure my hair was soft, shined and curly, it didn’t feel like my hair was heavy which definitely a plus and kept my curls since some products I’ve tried in the past have weighed my hair down

I absolutely love this oil gel because it was able to tame my frizz and also add a lot of shine to my hair. Despite it being in the name, the product is not super oily to the point where it feels uncomfortable on your hands. It’s very easily absorbed by the hair and scalp so it does not leave an excessive residue on your hands. The consistency of the product I would have to say is like a combination of a gel and conditioner, so it is a little on the thicker side. It does however spread very easily and has a large spreading capability so a little really does go a long way. I love the smell of the product as well. The cocoa butter I would say is the scent that shines through the most and it is just very pleasing to me. This is a must-have product if you have curly hair and are looking for a product that shines and controls your frizz.

Oil Gel:The Surface Hair Gel smells amazing and is not heavy on your hair, if you apply it when your hair is wet you will end up with defined curls if you let it air dry. I haven't seen it using other products not in the surface hair line but if you want to wear a wash and go this is a go-to product. If you apply it when your hair is wet a little goes a long way. The first photo is my hair freshly washed out of the shower, no product. The second photo is my hair with the oil gel added. The third photo is my hair with the hir cream wax added. Surface hair is now a staple for me. If you use the products in combination you will end with with the more light defined wash and go and will last for a long time, also it will smell amazing in your hair with is also a bonus!

It’s bouncy, shiny, and feels light, not crunchy at all.The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that it didn’t provide quite as much definition as I was expecting, so my curls were a little puffier than usual. But for that incredible volume, I can definitely forgive the slight puffiness. Overall, I can see this being my new go-to product for curly hair days. Highly recommend!
