I’ve been using the Surface Awaken Scalp Treatment for several months at the recommendation of my hair stylist. - So naturally I was super excited to add the Awaken Shampoo + Masque to my hair regimen. I don’t wash my hair everyday, maybe 2-3 times a week, so I’ve only used the shampoo a few times so far. While I can’t speak to the hair growth capabilities of this product just yet, I can say that you can definitely feel the menthol and capsicum in the formula working to detox and stimulate your scalp while you shampoo. The smell is really nice - not too overpowering - it doesn’t induce burning in your eyeballs. The formula lathers up nicely - especially considering that it’s sulfate free formulation. The lather rinses out easily without leaving your hair feeling stripped or dehydrated.The Awaken Masque smell was slightly more potent than the shampoo. The formula is nice and rich without feeling super heavy or greasy. The masque says to only use it every 5 shampoos - so I’m assuming 1x a week - in place of conditioner. Surface Awaken Therapeutic Masque is not your ordinary hair mask, no. It’s much more than that, it has a hefty price tag but it also comes with big benefits. The formula has capsicum and mint to invigorate the scalp and stimulate blood flow to the follicles. This masque works great as a counterpart to Surface’s Awaken shampoo.There is a small caveat to this masque, it’s that you have to let it sit for at least ten minutes (in my opinion) in order for one to fully feel all the benefits of the mask. If you let it sit and rinse out right away you might not get all the great benefits it has. It’s not the most moisturizing mask but that’s because it has other benefits, I would even dermaroll the scalp and massage this into the scalp and sleep with the mask overnight!

The Surface Hair Awaken Masque is perfect to give your hair a big dose of tlc. My hair is dry and I stuggle with an oily scalp and dandruff. I used this a couple of times and noticed a huge difference in the overall health of my scalp and hair. It needed to be left on for about 10 minutes so adding it to the beginning of my shower and letting it sit while I shaved etc was no problem. The clean formulation and ingredients are a huge bonus. Its a treatment that has a minty spa feeling when applied. My hair is color treated and highlights. I found that after 3 times my hair was fuller, shiny, and very soft.
